Agniveer-Rahul Gandhi’s fallacy scrapped by Indian Army

Rahul Gandhi, on Monday, as the leader of opposition, claimed that Agniveer martyrs are neither treated with equal honour as that of regular armed forces nor are the families of the departed paid compensation in full. This was one of the major issues he brought up in the parliament among the others that we have covered in our previous post. Click here to check that article.

Despite the instant rebuttal of this claim by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where he dismissed the claim saying that a total of 1 Crore rupees had been shared with the family of the deceased, Rahul did not budge. Instead, he dodged the request made by the ruling MPs to authenticate these claims.

Like always, when Congress has been on its toes lately to hit-and-run and let the aftermath follow the controversy, Rahul Gandhi also shared an incident where the family of one of the Agniveer who lost his life in the line of duty recently, met Rahul Gandhi and shared the story of how they were not received a compensation against the supreme sacrifice. The claim was truly saddening for any Indian to bear with, only if it were true.

Reacting to the incident and the social media wildfire, on July 3, approximately at 10 pm, the official ADG-PI account of social media platform X, posted clear enough information about Ajay Kumar, the Agniveer who is talked about here, was honoured as per the military protocol. Other details that include the amount paid and the amount due (total of Rs. 1. 65 Crore) are also clearly mentioned in the tweet that was made by the official handle.

We have already talked about how the exchange of verbal bullets took place in the parliament this week and to add on top of it, we strongly believe that such incidents or rebuttals that show authentication will not only fortify the government’s defence but also weaken the opposition’s credibility, thereby, building respective perceptions in the voter’s minds.

We hope this 18th Lok Sabha truly encourages healthy discussions and strong debate to bring out the best for the nation, instead of it becoming a rant-house based on mere accusations and misfires.
