After all the backlash faced by Rahul Gandhi on account of his allegations related to the Agniveer Compensation and Scheme protocol which was scrapped by the armed forces via X platform (Click here to go to that article), Congress took it to the press to clarify their stance on what is actually implied by Rahul Gandhi, while distancing itself from the fact that the notification given by the army about delivered Agniveer compensation is still true.
What are the allegations?
Col. Rohit Chaudhary and Wing Commander Anuma Acharya shared the stage explaining how the Agniveer soldiers are discriminated against regular soldiers. Very soon the list of the differences will be out along with the verification of all 13 Agniveers including Ajay Singh.
Few other names like Pankaj Chauhan, Amrit Pal, Pradeep Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh and Jitender Singh made it to the list of the supreme sacrifice who are yet to receive Agniveer compensation in full, as committed by the policymakers. While Congress claims only 48 lakhs are received by Ajay Singh, when asked by media, whether ADGPI is lying through their teeth? Colonel said – “the BJP is hiding behind the official answerable. The authorities should rather educate us all on how the payments were made. Be straight on your back, do not lie down.”
Why does this matter to us?
Important notes of the press conference included some allegations made by Congress where they claim that the personnel who laid their lives for the nation but were denoted as suspicious despite having bullet wounds need to be cleared of all doubts as there seems to be an angle of suicide for near about 9 names in the list.
The colonel said that in his tenure of service, he barely saw more than one suicide happening and hinted towards the inability of less trained soldiers (Agniveers) who might have been a victim of lack of training and consequent excess mental pressure, which is, in broader terms, being referred here to as weak army. This is certainly concerning to each one of us and we on ScoopDogDaily.com, will try to reach to the bottom of it to bring you the facts that matter.
Next Course of Action
Wing Commander also called out the government for discussing the Agniveer compensation and policy with multiple third-party entities when she said this is not a discussion to be done on streets (SDD does not agree with these views of WC, as we collectively feel that discussion over such policies is certainly healthy)
This press conference has certainly stirred the Agniveer compensation issue and the discussion will take its course in the media, the parliament house and even in common households who have their eyes on what happens next. This will surely churn out the best of the policy but we would like to refrain from dragging the names of glory through the political mud including the sum they were paid or not paid till now.
The government now has the responsibility to get back to reply to these allegations before it’s too late and causes turbulence and unrest among the masses like in the past. We have already seen how the rumours act at lightning speed and do the job before the truth reaches the masses. It is necessary both in parliament as well as in press conferences for the concerned authorities to respond to this. We would request the armed forces’ participation in the response to build authority and avoid further confusion.
We will keep you posted. Till then, let us know your thoughts on the Agniveer scheme and whether it should be a part of the defence policy or what points do we need to reconsider.
